Has King Charles Died?

King Charles, whom Russian media claimed to have died, was seen leaving Windsor Castle to go to Clarence House in London. The 75-year-old King, sitting in the royal limousine, continues his cancer treatment. Following the claims of the Russian media, the British Embassy confirmed that King Charles III is alive. False reports spread at a time when the Princess of Wales appeared 'happy, healthy, and relaxed'.

King Charles, whom Russian media claimed to have died, was seen leaving Windsor Castle to go to Clarence House in London.

His Majesty, aged 75, undergoing cancer treatment, was sitting in the back of the royal limousine as he left his home in Berkshire before reaching the capital. Yesterday, the British Embassy in Moscow was compelled to issue an official statement confirming that King Charles III is still alive, following the allegations of the Russian media.

A series of Russian news sites and associated social media accounts reported the death of the King due to complications from cancer, citing unnamed 'media' sources in several posts. A purported image of a fake statement reporting Charles' 'unexpected death' from 'Buckingham Palace' circulated on social media. This came after Princess of Wales was seen 'happy, healthy, and relaxed' while visiting a farm shop near their home in Adelaide Cottage, Windsor, on Saturday.

A royal source said the trip should dispel wild conspiracy theories about his health. While many major news outlets reported the fake news, it wasn't immediately clear if they had erred or if Vladimir Putin's propaganda machinery was directly behind it. The sick display, involving the monarch, came amid criticisms in Britain and other Western countries over Vladimir Putin's "rigged" presidential elections "victory". The British Embassy's Telegram channel issued a Russian-language announcement emphasizing the reports were fake. In a statement shortly after a similar message from the British Embassy in Ukraine, it was declared, "Reports of the death of Great Britain's King Charles III are fake." The initial outlets to publish the fake report were RIA, Sputnik, Readkovka, and Mash, but all later corrected their stories.

Mash media outlet wrote, "According to Buckingham Palace, Britain's King Charles III has died. Elizabeth's son ascended the throne just over a year ago; the coronation took place on May 6, 2023. He was 75 years old." It was later updated to read, "The message was found to be fake," and added, "Let's remember that he was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago." However, the publication later noted, "False reports about the death of Charles III spread rapidly and were quickly debunked. The King of Great Britain is alive and well, continuing his duties. At least that's what Buckingham Palace says." Information about Charles' death appeared in many Russian sources some time ago. The basis for this was a specific message attributed to Buckingham Palace and apparently found to be fake." State news agency TASS reported that the story was fake.
