The arrests came in response to the on-pitch altercation that ensued after Trabzonspor's 3-2 defeat to Fenerbahce at Trabzon's Papara Park on Sunday. According to Yerlikaya's statement on X, among the detained individuals were those involved in assaulting Fenerbahce players, including one who charged onto the field with intent to attack and another who forcibly removed a corner flagpole in a bid to approach the players.

Furthermore, one suspect who physically assaulted Fenerbahce's Croatian goalkeeper, Dominic Livakovic, was also apprehended. Yerlikaya emphasized that legal proceedings have been initiated against the suspects, with investigations ongoing.

The incident unfolded as jubilant Fenerbahce players gathered at the center circle of Papara Park to celebrate their victory, only to be met with a swarm of Trabzonspor supporters storming the pitch in an aggressive manner. Security personnel swiftly intervened to quell the chaos, with videos circulating online capturing Fenerbahce players, including Michy Batshuayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Jayden Oosterwolde, confronting the intruders.

Livakovic was reported to have been punched while making his way to the tunnel amid the chaos. Additionally, Trabzonspor fans had earlier disrupted the match by hurling flares and various objects onto the pitch.

In the thrilling encounter, former Manchester United midfielder Fred netted twice for Fenerbahce in the 13th and 45th minutes, with Batshuayi sealing the win with a late goal. Trabzonspor's goals came from Enis Bardhi in the 63rd minute and Trezeguet, who converted a penalty in the 78th minute.

Following the victory, Fenerbahce solidified their second-place standing with 79 points, while Trabzonspor maintained their position in third with 49 points. Galatasaray currently leads the standings, holding a two-point advantage over Fenerbahce.
