Timur Cihantimur, the son of the famous author Eylem Tok, caused the death of Oğuz Murat Acı, who had recently become a father, by hitting a group checking a faulty ATV motor on the emergency lane with his vehicle.

The accident occurred on Friday, March 1st around 20:00 on the Kemerburgaz road. Allegedly, Oğuz Murat Acı (29), along with Tahsin Arslan (23), Süleyman Arslan (21), Hasan Topal (25), and İbrahim Gümüş (27), had set out from Sarıyer on 3 ATVs for a ride, but when one of the ATVs malfunctioned, they stopped on the emergency lane of the Kemerburgaz road.

At around 23:50, 17-year-old unlicensed driver Timur Cihantimur, driving a sports car belonging to his mother, was speeding on the emergency lane and collided with the 3 ATVs parked there, resulting in the death of Oğuz Murat Acı and injuries to 4 others.

Following the incident, it was determined that Timur Cihantimur was taken to Egypt by his mother Eylem Tok. Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation into the incident and issued an arrest warrant for Eylem Tok on charges of "harboring a criminal" and for Timur Cihantimur on charges of "causing the death of one person and injuring multiple people" on March 2, 2024.

The Chief Prosecutor's Office prepared a request for issuing a red notice for the mother and son today and sent it to the Ministry of Justice. New details regarding the incident emerged. Hacı Orhan, the lawyer of Oğuz Murat Acı who lost his life, stated that Eylem Tok and her child arrived at Istanbul Airport at around 03:50 on March 2, 2024, brought by individuals working at the workplace of her departed spouse, Bülent Cihantümur.

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced on his social media account that arrest warrants have been issued for Eylem Tok and her son. Tunç stated in his announcement that Eylem Tok and her son left Egypt for the United States, and their extradition was requested from the US.

Minister Tunç included the following statements in his announcement:

"The investigation into the traffic accident that resulted in the death of one person and the injury of 4 others in Istanbul Eyüpsultan on 01.03.2024 at around 23:50 is being meticulously conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Timur Cihantimur, who is under 18 years old, was arrested by the Istanbul 7th Peace Criminal Judge for the crime of 'Causing Death by Negligence and Injuring Multiple People,' and his mother, the suspect Eylem Tok, was arrested for the crime of 'Harboring a Criminal.'

On 02.03.2024 at 03:50, it was determined that Timur Cihantimur and his mother went to Egypt by plane, and contact was made with the Egyptian judicial authorities for their extradition to Turkey, and the extradition process was initiated, and a red notice was requested for the suspects. Upon the notification from the Egyptian Interpol that the individuals had left Egypt for the United States, the temporary detention request documents prepared for their extradition from the US to our country were transmitted to the US authorities both through diplomatic channels and via Interpol.

The extradition process and the judicial investigation are being closely monitored.

I extend my condolences to the deceased victim of the accident and wish a speedy recovery to the injured victims."
